Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Say Good-bye to your Christmas Holidays!!

Heard from a reliable source Hon HR is now considering eliminating the paid holiday week at the end of December for 2017 and beyond. A few more years of this and there will be no benefits left at the company.

Those are holidays during the year that we don't take, they have put it at the end of the year. If they do away with the week, then we will just get those holidays during the year. Thats why production and test get them as floaters.

I heard the same thing. If you are an Aerospace salary exempt employee you will get the last week of December off as paid holiday in 2016. This has been a longstanding tradition in Aerospace. A few years back Honeywell decided to screw over the hourly employees by forcing them to work this week by replacing their holidays with "floating holidays" for them to schedule throughout the year. This likely saved the company millions in overtime/double-time wages. Well, the same thing once again happened in 2016 with salary non-exempt employees losing even more holidays being replaced by floating holidays to avoid the need to pay employees double-time wages. Whether it happens in 2017 or not, I believe 100% this trend will continue and all employees in Aerospace will be working the last week of December with no "floating holidays" or overtime wages given.

Haven't gotten that week off without taking vacation in the 25 years I've been with the company. It's always been a standard workweek for us.

I got the last week of 2016 off as a holiday. Production people were required to take their holiday throughout the year so they'd be on hand for the usual year-end push.

That is old news. Last year employees used their vacation for that week. Only 10% were allowed to take off
