Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Torrance

Torrance cannot be closed and transitioned completely to MXL due to ITAR/EAR restrictions on military hardware. This rumor has been going on for years.

Really..... that's what the old timers at Lomita plant said. Now it's a parking lot for Torrance memorial. How about this: Move all commercial business to Mex and the rest to Phoenix where they are slow as hell and it's much cheaper to do business. Keep the Torrance engineers for new business development in a much smaller newly acquired facility in Garden Grove.

The way they get around it is if your product is used on military and commercial then they can move it out of the country with the argument that it is commercial. That's what happened at engines.

Agreed, I used think I was safe and secure in flight controls due to liability, but the corp found a way to outsource and still retain the responsibility. No Job is safe from outsourcing save the BOD and Executive level.

In today's corporate enviorment, anything is possible. restrictions can be waived and equipment can be moved as long as DoD is made aware
