Supervisors should be required to tell reports their ranking level. This would make them live with their decisions and in some cases justify them. It makes it really hard for a supervisor to hide a biased or vindictive decision!

Supervisor is telling us they aren't allowed to tell us where we are ranked. Transparency at its finest.
As a rule of thumb, ConocoPhillips outsources most of our work ... To all the major EPCs. Go look at our operations, we use Mustang, PAC, Fluor, Bechtel, and many others. Not to mention all the retired employees we bring back as consultants. All of our major plants are built by contractors, equipment engineered by suppliers, leases bought by agents and wells drilled and fraced by service companies. If you really look at most of our internal operation, most work is cut and paste from the previous wells and project. The one exception is our ability to manage our reservoirs, and there we need knowledge. As to accounting, there are many 3rd party companies that can fill out 10Ks and manage our money. The best that we can do is just do our jobs. Each BU management will decide who they want to keep and most of those decisions have been made. Disrespecting opinions in this forum appears to be from frustration of not knowing whether you will be saved or not. The simple thing to do is ask your supervisor how you were ranked. If your in the bottom 6% you probably already know. Here's hoping for $60.00 oil so we can all get back to work.
@1chz: I don't agree with the poster or the ELT. It is just that somebody (sounds like an accountant by trade) was saying he/she could outsourcr all the technical work. I countered by saying he/she was jsut as expendable.

If you actually ever looked at out sourced work you would know the quality is not very good. Usually slapped together and put in nice power points to fool management. You sir probably have never performed complicated technical work and had to live with the results. Are you a lawyer or an accountant?
Wow first time I have heard both sides agree with the ELT. Outsource everyone, cut G&A, and then we can get rid of all the pensions, and the non performers in one blow. We could eliminate 5 corporate centers. Field would be a small group of superintendents that manage contract production. I am sure at that point our stock can rise again

Actually yes I can drill a well and manage a reservoir ... It's called outsourcing ... I am sure that I can find many Drillers that are unemployed wanting contract work... Are you smart enough to manage a corporate budget? Seems to me that writing AFEs is just begging management to pay for your expenses. And I highly doubt that you pay contractors ... We have a two touch system that prevents corruption ... Oh yeah, your in drilling, thus already corrupted

I'm really tired of the people on here who degrade others. Of course an accountant can't drill a well you f---ing moron. Can you prepare a 10K that passes muster with the SEC? I hope you don't have the same attitude in life with everyone who serves you or who you perceive to be less than you. You are a miserable human being.
I must do my own expense reports, project budgets, and contractor payments. Can you find a prospect, drill a well, or manage a reservoir?
