Chevron can do what it wants with the dividend. Increase it or lower it. It won't affect me. A little at a time, I strategically moved all of my CVX stock holdings to other funds and cash within my Vanguard 401k. I keep a close watch on my retirement savings. When all hell breaks loose with our stock, I won't be in the line of fire.

DIvidend increase is safe..but credit rating will drop because increased borrowing will be required to fund dividend increase and capex. Cash gen will suffer as oil prices drop below $50, continuing delays is LNG startup and continuing cost overruns, low Asia LNG prices plus a Permian focus will not replace production. I expect a 1 cent dividend increase with more borrowing and lower credit rating

John Watson resign? But he's done such a tremendous job.

The dividend is the albatross around Chevron's neck. It will continue to be a heavy weight for us to carry. As hard as it may be to take, it's becoming more likely our best route to survival is through a dividend cut. Do it for once. The stock will take an enormous hit, but Chevron will bounce back as a stronger company with the fortitude to endure what's left of this storm. Of course, John Watson will be required to resign, but that will be for the best of the company. This news can come as soon as next quarter. Don't be holding CVX stock in your 401k, else you will go down with Watson.

This is what happens when the company is run by finance people who know nothing about technology and have no respect for technical people. Good luck JW, hope you have a great time running the company into the ground. See you on the links.

The original poster may be a troll, but is also right. See this new story from the journalist in Perth who follows Chevron the closest:

It's a big money pit, and nowhere near the end sadly.

I make ~$270k and I have a good position downstream now. I do not have much size-wise but the women that I entertain frequently don't seem to mind. I use it well, and at least they pretend to enjoy it. That's good enough for me!!!
