Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Bye Bye Blue

Bled blue, bled out. Thanks SLB for the 28yr ride. Good living, own 2 homes, no debt, big 401k, retired. Now my time is my own.

No more answering to people who don't have a clue, have a diploma but couldn't tell you a v-door from a traveling block. no

more 4 managers to every 2 techs. This is not the same company I signed up with, they can have their "transformation". All the

gen Yer's are more concerned with the "environment", kissing each others butts, and living thru quest than they are about quality,

reliable tools. The rest of you...hang in there and work hard because I deserve & enjoy my check every month...and remember to

write that RIR & HARC before you wipe your butt or breathe. Got mine, pension, SS, 401k, stock...set for life.

When this .global trend fails and it will, it's going to hurt those who desrve it most. Glad you have it made.

"What is a v-door and a traveling block? What degree do you get to learn about those?"

Don't worry about it man, it's an obscure oilfield diploma you'll never be accused of having. Now please return to your office and work on that 6S project (be sure it includes financials....you'll get extra credit) and your quest certs.

no kidding, not same company you are correct. I remember back in 1980 we done a job, damn rig hands walked off and our crew had to finish setting casing so we could cement. Wasn't pretty but we got it done with no one hurt. Now days we leave a circle on a map we got to call in to someone in India to see if its okay and your manager is 23 with a Doctoral in Electricity. Don't make no sense really. Take care and good luck...

Welcome to the club, you earned it. After 33 yrs with SWS, I took the package 6 yrs ago after the Smith buyout. Your right, its not the company we hired on too so long ago. Just remember the majority of these younger employees would have quit when we hired on. In the late 70's The hardest thing to find was people that could last a week. 4 or 5 back to back 24 hour Open Hole jobs weeded out 95% of the guys. It was always the same, my wife won't let me be gone this long, or I can't go 50 hours without sleep, you guys are nuts. I quit. So we would go through the process all over again and again, this continued for the first 5 years I worked. But the ones who did stay formed the foundation for growth and profit that helped build SLB into the #1 service company on the planet. I remember the best thing about the CSU trucks was we had to have 3 Coleman AC's for the first computers, before that your were lucky to have one window unit in a logging truck and most of the time it would blow hot air. R9G camera trucks recorder cabs were often 100-110F inside during the summer. Looking back, I am proud to have been a part of that and yes it provided a good life and retirement for my family. So welcome to the club good and faithful servant......

What a way to start of the Day! We wish you luck and yes it is your life. Enjoy the John Deere tractor ride Henceforth. Yes you are right no more answering to these silly kids that barely know how to wipe their A$$. Many of you cannot say 28 years with all the changes, it once was a amazing place to work but now it is a headache driven by greed and butt licking. He who licks the most butt will be promoted the quickest.
