Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

With samsung already manufacturing 10nm ics, tsmc to start 10nm this year

Intel is no longer the cutting edge. Its the beginning of the end.

Intel will probably sell its fabs and be fabless like amd.

Intel is too slow and will not able to compete with coreans, taiwanese and chinese manufacturing giants.

The company have made allot of mistakes, instead of concentrating its main business - pc and server cpus, the company is wasting money on internet of things bullshit products that have no value.

Instead, intel should have invested in

Graphics cpus and dominate that market.

Nvidia dominates that market and doing very well.

Doesn't matter what the node names are, Intel is complete flop at 10nm. PTD still supporting 14nm should have been out of it 1.5 years ago. BK and Sohail need to be fired for poor leadership.

I for one welcome our new Asian overlords. May I be of service.

Lol. Nvidia was on a death bed about 2-3 years ago when it made the decision to invest heavily in wireless chips, and LTE modems...They failed. Miserably.

BUT, they quickly realized that and then refocused on what they are good at.. Graphics GPU, and now they are back on top.

Broadcom (now avago) lost their edge in wireless connectivity when it spent most of its energy on LTE (not once, but 3 times, at the same time). There were 3 acquisitions and 3 parts of the company working on a different LTE chip to see which one got done first. All 3 failed miserably. One Broadcom refocused back on connectivity, it was back on top.

Intel, though it took a long time, probably finally figured out they too wasted a boatload of money on LTE and wireless connectivity, and at best will be a C- player. Once they get out and refocus on its core competency, they too will be back on top... I'll give it about another year or two, ousting of BK maybe another round of major layoffs after another bad quarter before intel wakes up.

Meanwhile, if you currently don't own intel shares, I'd wait. If you current own intel shares, I'd hold on and wait for the recovery. A 3.4% dividend isn't bad. Better than that 1%CD you might get if you are a lucky, lol.

When they say that Samsung/TSMC's 10nm is equivalent to our 14nm, they're basically right. The other companies have started playing marketing games with node names. 3rd party sites, who X-ray chips and actually measure transistors, have verified this.

How much revenue / profit does NVIDIA make each year? I think it's <10% of what Intel makes.

Ignorance is a bliss. Thank you, INTEL management. INTEL management monkeys do what INTEL management monkeys see! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78QgflX0nAY
