Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Irresponsible of Intel to do such massive layoff without even looking at Intel's huge uncontrolled unnecessary spending

Intel's problems cannot be solved by its massive layoff, the problems lies a lot in the rotting culture that have developed within Intel. Many department managers and high level managers playing office politics to grow their turf rather than doing what is right for the company. And Intel's culture of "spend spend spend" where huge amounts of $ are wasted unnecessary. And the spending have reached an uncontrolled addiction where many groups which are within higher up inner circle have unlimited huge budgets to spend unnecessarily, often for huge amounts of business class traveling. In today's day and age of high speed broadband, meetings can easily be facilitated through Lync and face to face meeting only when needed. But to some of these groups within the inner circle, budget so large that huge numbers of staff flying international 5 or 6 times or more a year is simply wastage of $.

It is extremely irresponsible of BK to do such massive layoffs without considering the uncontrolled spending. It is very clear BK and his team is shooting in the dark, not knowing what to do and which direction to move. I wonder why the Board of Directors cannot see it.

I know people in management -all those gr 9 and above are so shallow and glib without substance - look for them in HR/TMG/Legal/Govt Affairs/ CS/ Sales are full of blow bloughs. I have seen them doing their personal stuff and running errands and mark their calendars as busy. If they dont have anything to do they keep sending memos/emails - managing by memos- some in legal and HR group are very good at that to justify their existence). All these id**ots are gr 10s and glorified paper pusher VPs. Been long here to watch this bull. I heard about a person in Legal/Arizona , not sure her name some-Skatina or Rooney/Rina, guys in TMG always keep complaining (for years) she never is there and always works home or says she out traveling but seems to get protection from another imbecile manager. these are the needs to be fired- NO ISP/TSP/VSP

Back in the "good ol days" - you know when the values on your badge meant something - we used to very harshly crack down on discretionary spending to the point where all travel was extremely limited (ie 1/2 of less of prior discretionary spending).

Don't be silly, without the business class travel when would I be able to escape a meeting and work? And even less work would get done if managers don't leave the office most of the time. They will just call more meetings or leadership days or whatever to bog us down. The days they fly off to barcelona to engage in mutual flagellation are my most productive days.

I agree, the managers at Intel are not the "roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty to get the job done" types I'm used to at other companies.

They spend so much time sitting in meetings, cranking out useless documents nobody reads, and make-do process which slows down productivity.

For all we know, they could be dozing off or checking their fat bank accounts to make sure they got paid during the meetings. Most don't even say or suggest anything to help.

I sure hope Intel.makes decisions and weed out the good from the bad managers. It's the engineers who do the work mostly.

Agree that half my day is spent totally unproductively, through no means of my own. Anybody else have to do HVI on parts/boards? Dear lord, has there ever been a bigger time and efficiency sink in human history??

Every successful company is built on high meeting percentage. If half your day isn't meetings, then your company is doing it wrong.

Agree with you. Managers are there to find and document any tiny mistakes you have done in past with no interest to help how to correct it. They just want to put blame on you so that you don't get/demand for high level stocks.
