Intel's problems cannot be solved by its massive layoff, the problems lies a lot in the rotting culture that have developed within Intel. Many department managers and high level managers playing office politics to grow their turf rather than doing what is right for the company. And Intel's culture of "spend spend spend" where huge amounts of $ are wasted unnecessary. And the spending have reached an uncontrolled addiction where many groups which are within higher up inner circle have unlimited huge budgets to spend unnecessarily, often for huge amounts of business class traveling. In today's day and age of high speed broadband, meetings can easily be facilitated through Lync and face to face meeting only when needed. But to some of these groups within the inner circle, budget so large that huge numbers of staff flying international 5 or 6 times or more a year is simply wastage of $.
It is extremely irresponsible of BK to do such massive layoffs without considering the uncontrolled spending. It is very clear BK and his team is shooting in the dark, not knowing what to do and which direction to move. I wonder why the Board of Directors cannot see it.
