Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Dear fellow ex-intel employees kicked out ISP thanks to unfair focal ratings - this is not what we deserve

Most of us got ISP due to some sort of plot set up from at least early last year. They selected target old engineers and plotted to give us S with SL4 at best, then remove us. Those categories, who setup those criteria? Many ppl can, may have SL4 for the first time but what are those conditions like, unless got EE, O in the previous year etc. Well, it is so clear they wanted to remove senior engineers and replace them with cheap labors. If so, that is their problem. Then, what is our problem? We worked like we burn our asses. So loyal to the company and even sacrificed our "family life" by working days and nights, weekends but in the end, layoffs. Well, layoff is ok though as someone said, because companies do layoffs. BTW, do we get layoff based on fair play? - this is the point. My SLM could not even answer my question why I got SL4 with solid example. It was all setup. To outside world, they announced that layoff is based on poor performance and put that shameful mark on us. Are we really a poor performer just because we are old, senior engineers? I used to work almost 24/7 while young engineers are all goofing around in cafeteria, walking around campus in groups.

I think this is what we should do but if you do not agree, that is fine.

  1. We are the smartest, most experienced engineers. Can we form a company, even like consultant?

I guess we can cover very wide spectrum and we can even start a new company with those numbers.

Later, other Intel's competitor can buy this if this new start up goes well.

  1. Each one of you deserves more than a million $. Why be happy with just barely 5month pay?

a) We got layoff via unfair/manipulated performance evaluation.

b) Those ISP criteria? All of sudden, they showed up, set up by who? from when? Should be notified

way earlier then now.

c) we were ALMOST forced to sign the agreement that we will not file a law suit against the company

by giving us a bait - extra pays.

d) We all got humilated infront of our colleagues, insulted by being escorted + marked as a poor

performer. Do you think you are really a poor performer compared to those who are left?

I don't think so. This is the worst part I guess. I was wondering if we can ask

hitechemployeelawsuit about this.

There can be many, but these are what came to my mind. We got hit, then we hit back harder, we are the engineers, and the best! No thanks to those posts "just take the package and leave!" on this. If you think so, go ahead, take the package and leave but do not try to bring splits in this forum.

How do you think? Do you all think we just take the package and leave without a word and let them feel they are the winner and they did the right thing in a right way?

There are folks who has received exceeds expectation with ssl4 - take higher raise but accept lower stock. Ssl4 obviously has dual meaning.

I couldn't find gillard & co email address where we could each send our stories. If they receive enough stories, they might take interest.

In for class action. We need to act fast else people will be receiving packages in the mail and signing off their rights.

Agree, so many of us work even when not on call and responsible for projects that never stops... meanwhile others that are friendly with managers and responsible just for projects M-F get to stay? what a bunch of crap!

I am in for the lawsuit for sure. Laidoff for SSL4 only. Never a BE or an IR. Please post if anyone hears of a class action lawsuit. I plan to contact the same company that won the other lawsuit against Intel.

One reason we could win here are points. At Will might protect them but there are gray areas that a court might look at things differently. My points below.

  1. Most mangers when this happen in July of 2015 said they were NOT aware of the policy. Well this is poor coaching on Intel's part. These managers did not know what they were doing when giving out SSL4.

  2. One manager told me the nomenclature of the number level 4 was related to a range of grade levels. Nothing related to performance. The amount of stock given was related to performance but not the level number

  3. We are being discriminated against in comparison to others who might have received a SSL in previous years before this policy was enforced. Getting put on some database again is discriminating . They need to go back all the way to get everyone that was let go in the past and get them on the list too.

  4. The fact that SSL never appear on your review again, it is a volition. It shows up no where on the review and when you get higher raises you assume you did a better job than the average person next to you. Again giving the employee a false sense of their performance.

Intel is at WILL they can get rid of us but than they need to do it across board since they have been a company using SSL as a performance metric. They need to go back all the years where this applies.

Class actions win...for one individual it is very hard.

Where do you get the list of emails?

When Intel used ssl4/5 as lay-off criteria for the first time and some one else in your team was let go last year, what did you really think of that unfortunate colleague? Did you think of him/her the same way as you think of yourself now? Did you say anything truthful and sincere as he was leaving and learned something from him as a result?

I did and I was able to fend off ssl4 for 2016 Focal.

Nice! I share the same thoughts. Is there a mailing list available for laid off employees? Power is in numbers, knowledge, and motivation.

You should also think you the devious guys in the compnay, perhaps managers themselves, who are getting paid handsomely to refer " young " engineers. They have the replacements in place and then fire the "senior, costly" workforce. How do you justify indiscriminate hiring on one hand and lay offs on the other.? A scam with monetary implications indeed.

Wonder how many Murthy inducted in the very recent past.

Intel may not have asked for loyalty but they darn sure participated in collusion with other companies to make sure they wouldn't hire us...I got a settlement check for $4600 the day before Christmas 2015 for the High-Tech Employee Anti-trust lawsuit because my position at Intel qualified me as a class member....and I left Intel 3 years ago. So, ee's may not be entitled to loyalty, but they surely are entitled to leave and seek employment elsewhere if they want to, without having Intel making secret deals with other companies not to hire them.

I hear "loyalty" mentioned a lot in this forum. What does that mean? Did you have better offers from other companies that you turned down to stay at Intel? Did Intel promise you tenure for not moving to other companies? If not, don't ding Intel for not valuing your "loyalty." We get paid by Intel in exchange for our work. There's no contract in place. We can leave at any time and Intel can fire us at any time. Intel didn't ask for loyalty from us and we shouldn't expect it from Intel either.

You all knew what you were getting yourself into when you signed all of your new hire paperwork. You all thumbed your noses at the unions long ago, letting the corporations fool you with glitter - never once working toward worker rights. You all do this to yourselves. You think a republicant or a demoncrat will change things for you but they never will as they are already bought and paid for by corporate interest. Fooled every four years perpetually, yet have the gall to portray you are intelligent. How laughable.

"How do you think? Do you all think we just take the package and leave without a word and let them feel they are the winner and they did the right thing in a right way?"

It's different from person to person. Some feel they should stick around and chance it while others will take the money and run.

Nicely stated. You do not have to worry. These cowardly managers hid behind the hardworking employees for many years. Now they will be exposed since the "cheap labor" will not be able to protect them. They probably are already working on exit plans for themselves which is probably the only brilliant thing they could ever do. Can't wait to meet them in the bread line someday. Maybe we'll have a chance to piss down their backs, just as they have done to us.
