I agree on the restructuring but disagree on how he did. The disconnection is due to his bottom line, I believe.
Since he became CEO, Stacy Smith showed his mastery of accounting circus to meet BK's bottom line while Intel was struggling to grow.
BK got so sick of doing it every quarter so he decided to create a cushion with one shot so that he could focus on his own agenda.
All is well prepared until it is done toward 2017 so he dismissed SS and let him prepare the heirship of the next CEO. Murthy is a race buddy.
After BK's reign, if Intel is still in some(?) shape, one of these two swordmasters would be enthroned. More bloodshedding.
