Layoffs have begun in India. They are trying to do it discretely. But the word will spread soon once the numbers increase.

The evolution of the company has not come cheap, and alongside the revenue hit, it has accumulated about $US6 billion in debt.

Avaya's private equity owners, Silver Lake Partners and TPG Capital, are considering how to restructure the debt, and Mr Abou-Ltaif confirmed that a sale of the firm was a potential option.

"Some of the debt is due in 2017 and a company like ours with 330,000 customers and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of $US1 billion is attractive," he said.

"It could be a merger, someone could buy us, but we're looking to make sure we continue to service our customers well."

True. Even Sales are trying to screw Avaya 'Big Time' by giving complete hold to BPs, who now a days are driving Avaya India.

All Sales account managers totally rely on BPs alm to get their targets completed. For so many years they don't have guts to bring single customer. Every year they do shuffling game with partners for customer accounts to achieve their targets. Most of them screw Avaya and joins other company when gets caught, that's the trend for years. They only work for BPs and taking remuneration from Avaya. In the past they haven't allowed any outsider MD to be with Avaya for more than one year by not supporting him/her.

Not sure how this pathetic sales leadership has won the confidence of Kevin Kennedy and Nidal, may be some fake story they have told. Really surprising!

It's simple. If senior folks do not leave, then promote junior guys and make senior folks report into them. A simple mgmt fundamentals. with this most of the senior folks will either leave or will be managed out. This is latest news from Avaya Pune. Attrition is high but it's presented by both, site lead and HR as if these folks (HRC & SRC) were managed out.

Kevin has got Avaya from $5+B to $4B and below in just over 5 years. Gary who heads R&D, all his projects have failed till date. Vijay who is site lead has messed complete Avaya Pune by impacting career of the top performers. Damage has been done. This will continue till these folks are not replaced by folks who have grown in this industry in a non-political environment and leading from the front by taking ownership.

Wow!! What a dirty politics!!!!!

In one hand our executives are taking away a hefty termination package and on the other hand asking employees to take unpaid leaves. (Reduced Work Schedule)

I left Avaya Pune last Friday.

Very happy now. Got 40% salary increment which was far better than Avaya.

In UC Pune division lot of senior people are present who will never leave Avaya(actually no one will hire them outside, they are useless). All old and sluggish/senior people which have no vision on future should be lay'd off. They are just drawing hefty salary to just buy BMW and Mercedes cars with 0% contribution to Avaya profitability.

I will never come back.

Good luck Avaya.

Avaya's loss may be Cisco's gain. Cisco is opening delivery center in Pune. Some hope for the employees.

Strategy: To make financial statistics better, first they will layoff as many as possible. This will increase per employee revenue. And then they will be in better position to sell it off. To increase per employee revenue/profit it does't matter whether employee is from low cost geography or high cost geography. Only what matters is total number of headcount reduction from company payroll.
