I'm far to familiar with Seagate Ethics department, or lack thereof. I worked there and was "RIF'd" in 2015 after reporting a HUGE ethics issue. The position I held was not eliminated, it was given a different title and was given to someone younger that cost less. The phrase "who watches the watchers" comes to mind when I hear about the "Investigations" team at STX. I personally know of MANY ongoing ethics violations committed by the "Investigations" team and it's leader. The reporting of said violations not only lead to my "RIF" but also lead to an investigation, or headhunt on me that has more than damaged my name and reputation it took me 15 years to build. Whatever you do, if you're employed by and know of an ethics violation, do not report it to the "anonymous" ethics line. Do the Investigation yourself and take it to the legal department yourself.... After seeking your own legal counsel prior to doing so. Don't be surprised if you are fired soon after reporting the violation. STX does not protect you if you are a whistleblower, instead, they view you as a problem and will get rid of you for ANYTHING they can get rid of you for and will be more than happy to tell anyone what you did to get "RIF'd" when a potential employer calls to ask for a reference. Total b---s--- company led by nothing but yes men full of their own egos. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Seagate period

Poor choice of words when HR used the phrase accusation of selecting the favorite supplier . The correct term should be allegation . This HR personnel should go for skills upgrading instead ! I see red when I saw the word accused .
HR should master the code of conduct first and lead by example . Why browse here when they should do something about the low or rather rock bottom morale in the company .... Speechless about them .

Simple. Put up the favorite supplier specs under the compulsory questions section. Suss out their closest competition and create questions to disadvantage or disqualify them .
Not to mention you could skew the scoring process as well . The entire policy is a smokescreen based on the way it is being executed .

Whoever who wrote about the purchasing or CMT policy will prevent any favoritism is totally unaware of the intellectual level of Seagate employees . I want to tell you straight . We are NOT stupid !
Come on , you believe in the CMTs.Lol. There was one CMT while running the RFP Even allowed the "favorite " supplier to contact their "favorite" key operations person - ED in Seagate . How does the blackout period apply to this all powerful ED ? None . He even directed the CMT to ask questions to the rest of the bidders as his favorite supplier could not agree to the terms of compulsory question . Sourcing /CMT are a bunch of jokers .
I wanted to laugh when I read about the sourcing policy . Having a policy does not necessarily equate to no supplier pre-determination. Questions can be designed or rather rigged to the "favorite" supplier advantage . The compulsory questions will rule out potential contenders .... I have seen too many of such games . The whole idea of CMT is such as hoax . Please just keep the purchasing team since there is no difference between two functions . Save some money for the company .
I can understand those being layoff unwillingly might feel hurt or anger. But bear in mind the HOD or managers are just the executor for the top management instruction. It is very hard for them to decide who to go.
The accusation for "select her favorite supplier" seems ridiculous to those familiar with the Seagate purchasing process. We know the vendor selection has to go through CMT and procurement. They will comb through the vendor and quotations. The chances for a HOD to interfere the selection for suppliers are slim. I really hope the ethic department can find out the truth and vindicate for the innocent.
For those who has lost the job, I hope them have a break, throw away the bitterness, get necessary training and look for a new job. Cursing, gossiping might not really hurt others but make yourself more miserable.

I was told my name was posted on here. I, along with my team of 6 employees investigate any known fraud at Seagate. I have had this job for almost ten years now. Many ethics tips have lead to terminations and arrests but more importantly savings to the company in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Savings that in these rough times can help save jobs and maybe more.
As the poster said below I don't mind getting anonymous emails or you can use the ethics website or phone to provide information. I own the process but a third party collects your tip, it is untraceable. It is also against policy and the law to RIF whistleblowers or punish them. In my 10 years I have never seen this happen. I actually prefer to receive information anonymously so everyone feels open and comfortable sharing. With that said I would love to help remove unethical employees and vendors from Seagate, but this website isn't the place to publicly accuse people. I don't trust HR or the ethnics team. My very close buddy went to HR to report an ethnics issue. Guess what happened? After one month, they told him no case and the next day called him to a room to say his job is redundant . His was RIF not during RIF seas so and was the only one in that week to be RIF .
If you were me, do you still trust the system? The system is here to protect the leadership from trouble . I don't want to get tagged . I know too much and have 2 sons to support .
