of course DWEP is overstaffed. 5 rigs and many major projects cancelled or delayed. in addition they have been absorbing staff from other BUs (mainly SASBU) for month so they can be 'parked' there and be 'safe'.

I think talking across the board everyone is saying 2018 is when things pick up. Then again they might not. 2018 does sound more realistic than next quarter or end of the year.

Not a surprise and nothing new either. We're in for a long period of tightening the belt and whacking personnel.
News article today reporting that deep water exploration is being abandoned due to high exploration and production costs relative to crude oil price. Anything in place now will be okay, but future work is being put on hold by just about all of the deep water players, not just Chevron. Big Foot will not be back until 2018 according to Chevron.
