What's going to be the impact of the spin off for Xerox workers? Do you think that thousands will be laid off and this will be another major round of cuts?
The way I think about it is about adding more jobs as they will need separate HR, accounting, etc, - All the corporate functions need to be duplicate but I may be wrong and only job cuts will follow.
Thoughts?
They will continue to add senior positions and duplicate all roles in both companies. Eventually there wont be much left aside from a bloated management structure gathered from other failed companies and outsourced labor for technical, admin and account focused roles. Employees will continue to be let go along the way.
Even if you network with many people in other areas at Xerox - it's very hard to break out of your business unit (you are stuck) and work in other departments
You have the sense that you are forever stuck and can't grow your career at Xerox at all...
There is not much support when it comes to promoting from within - they will hire from outside easily.
Keep in mind that Xerox has not given a salary increase or bonus to many people in years.
The only way to get a pay increase is to be promoted but that's very hard today.
