Getting prepared for ISP at Intel

An excellent site by HP layoff victims : http://www.hpalumni.org/asap. Read it if you suspect you're on your way out.

I was rated successful with L5 stock for 2015. No warning and no criticism of my work last year at all. Never been given lower stock or rated less than successful. Am a grade 7 in a new job learning totally new technology after over a decade of Intel. Based on the leaked slides and screen shots I've seen, it's almost certain that I'll be unemployed at the end of next week. So F them. Here are some of the things I'm doing.

  • Scheduling my floating holiday now as this is not vacation. Accrued vacation and rolled over vacation (in CA at least) should be paid out.

  • Only doing the lightest work which those I care about need. If a coworker I care about will have to do it next month or get stung by it, I do that today or tomorrow. For that jackass project manager who's been pushing project X and being a d*ck about it, we'll you're outta luck. Or maybe you're gone too. :)

  • Scheduling a dentist appointment asap for work I've been putting off. My benefits are damn good right now. Cobra my suck.

  • I have stock options vested that are actually worth some good cash. Pulling the trigger as I cant be sure they'll let me do that once I get the official notice of ISP. And the stock is up since the market seems to like all this "efficiencies" and "transformation".

  • I've taken a hard copy of everything I need for my laptop. Personal pictures, video and music, resume, helpful documents, exported of my Outlook contacts, etc. Note that if you copy too many files of the wrong type too quickly, lost pretend protection software will kick in. This may prevent you from copying some things and may send an alert. Do it offline to make sure and run your external hard drive or USB drive out to your car when you're done.

  • Emptying my laptop backpack. Am not going to argue about what's mine and what's theirs. May only take my laptop in as I go to work the next few days, pretending I don't know.

  • Going in late and leaving early. Going to play some Xbox and crank some classic vinyl. Relax and do house projects a couple of weeks and then look for a new job. Am in a good position and confident about my options.

What are you doing to prepare?

Here's to Change and Transformation. Haha. Bullshit.

This article seems to back that screenshot. Maybe some L4s will survive or be offered vsp.

Am guessing there may be some L4s who are spared. But who knows what the yield really applies to.

Yield is 75% possibly because folks who just joined late 2015 could have gotten ssl4/ssl5. They are likely to get filtered out of the list.

It will be a slaughterhouse come Monday. One way ticket to EE office.

why is yield only 75%? Not everyone satisfying the criteria would be laid off?

This means 3500 odd employees impacted. I thought the count was much more than that? I suspect if they are likely to get 8500 through other means.

Any word about the vsp?

that means approximate 25% employee meet that criteria but does not get ISP. ( about 1200)

Someone just showed me that image link below. I'm sorry if this shocks anyone who didn't already know. Was to me at first. Not surprised anymore. The package is supposed to be 8 weeks pay + Length of Service pay. LOS = 7 weeks for 4 years, 15 for 10 years, 30 for 20 years service. plus accrued vacation and rolled over vacation if you're in state that requires it.

This site you just posted is really good and just shows how much HP employees are ahead of Intel workers and much more organized. Intel employees are busy turf building and back stabbing each other. Good thing they are getting their asses handed to them.

I do not think they will make it one SSL4/5 in last 3 years. Then many new hires will get affected. When u have been in the company only 2 months they usually give you a SSL5. So doubt if they can make a decision based on just one year.

you mean one ssl5/4 in last 3 years will be getting ISP ? can you shed more light on leaked slides?

The leaked slides you are talking about, did they say everyone with a SSL4/5 this year are gone?

If I were you I would create a VM of your laptop (Hyper-V or VMware). Both have free tools to create a VM of your running system. Put it on a "My Passport" and then you'll always have your system and all the files installed. A whole lot of people did that. As for your Outlook, move all your current mails to a different .OST file because they will be gone if you don't. Just an FYI for those who care.

I had this experience last June. I would just suggest stay focused, never loose your cool. Go home, stay by the computer, use Linkedin as a great tool to land to the next job; connect to recruiters and friends (never be bothers by your so-called friends who pretend to help you, but actually makes fun of you miseries!!).prepare for your interviews (behavioral) and refresh your technical skills (which may have faded away during your repetitive Intel jobs)..My story is by July 22, I got 3 job offers with equivalent salary and accepted one at R feel happy as I love my job and have good colleagues (not a*holes as they were at intel) to work with.. totally love it!!! Wish you all the best guys..hope you'll soon land to another job..just keep applying!!!

Good planing. I am 100% sure during the last focal HR identified folks for layoff based on age and salary by issuing SSL4/5. They did the same to ISP folks last year. They plan these things way ahead of time. That's the reason there are 5000 HR folks on the payroll.
