You're entitled to your opinion:

"Classic response from a manager who also could give a sh-- about their employees "Store managers are NOT affected. People need to stop blowing stuff out of proportion. Yeah they're restructuring, I'm losing a FT lead down to PT but I'm not bothered by it."

I bet that employee that lost their job today is bothered by it. But I would not want to work for a manager with your attitude anyway.

What goes around comes around."

I wouldn't want to employ someone with your attitude. So quick to jump to conclusions about what something means.. I do care about my employees, I meant I'm not bothered about the change in position status. That employee didn't lost their job, but I know it still sucks either way. I'm not looking forward to having that conversation, I'm not a heartless a--hole. I would avoid it if I could but I can't do anything about it. I'm doing what I'm told. I still have a store to run no matter what and I can't stress about something I have no control over.

Actually top management lied to us. Somehow I recall ' no more layoffs'.

After all the culling at HO, I guess calling this round 'restructering' if is spelled it right, a spin on no layoffs. Offered part-time, ha! Less hours, these smacks don't care about their associates. Slap in the face.

So sorry to hear of another round of layoffs, restructuring bullshit. I got out two years ago when I started feeling the "suddenly stupid" effect. Making half salary now but with a smile and lighter heart. Good Luck to all.

My position was eliminated, offered part-time at current rate, took it until something better comes along. What is upper management thinking, eliminating dedicated, knowledgable, mature staff to have stores staffed by students who view the job as just a part time job until they graduate, Makes no sense what so ever, except the cheap labor part. So pathetic.

Don't panic people. The money the company saved today will be invested in new acquisitions for the future. The brightest minds at Follett have a plan. Perhaps they will put a new POS in the stores to help.

Interesting; the Store cluster part was not communicated today.

Just a couple in our region - completely understandable. ALL retailers restructure their stores like this if volume changes. You can't go from an A store volume to a B store volume and keep the same staff levels.

And despite what is being posted here, the store managers of stores under 500K are only being reduced if they are part of a store cluster (multi-store). All stand alone stores 0-1M keep a store manager. Group stores (store director run) with branches making less than 500K are the ones going down to ASM.

As for any additional future reductions, that could be an entirely different matter.

It is blown out of proportion - stores under 500k yes but how many of those are there really. I ran a store that size alone, Rush and all. I know the regional and HR person that said that and I can't BELIEVE they would send people into a panic like that. That's ridiculous. They should have been more clear rather than making you guys think you were losing your jobs. I still like what I do, if you guys hate it so much then leave and quit bellyaching about everything.

Store managers are affected; if you're a store with 500k or under you will be shown the door even if you're salaried though they'll offer you part time at the same wage. Thanks to Obamacare you can keep your insurance plan. Needless to say we are all impacted in some way.

Stores with sales between 3-8 million will only be allowed 3 ft under new plan. Your regional got to make the decisions on who goes and stays.

We were told no SMs, just FT. Almost half the stores in our region affected, mine included. Sure, we'll make it work, we always do, but don't spout off about how healthy this company is. This company and this industry are dying, there's no other way to put it. You know this isn't the end of it. I can't wait for phase 2. The title changes I see forthcoming will be something along the lines of 'active' is now 'terminated'.

In a region in the midwest, we have been told who we are losing at our store. FT team leads will be offered PT. No one who is salaried. I lived this at Nebraska, they will expect salaried managers to work even more to cover the losses. Nothing like mandatory 55 or more hours a week.

Nothing is being blown out of proportion. Our regional told us on our call that store managers were also affected in this, and HR was on the call as well and did not say otherwise.

Store managers are NOT affected. People need to stop blowing stuff out of proportion. Yeah they're restructuring, I'm losing a FT lead down to PT but I'm not bothered by it. I will run my store either way no mater what happens.

We were told on our conference call that store managers are part of this "restructuring." No one is safe.

Has anyone been told who at their stores are affected? Our regional told us that they did not have the information yet.

We were told 18 people in our region by our regional. HR confirmed about 250 in stores. HR said no store managers affected.
