Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

No respect.

We engineers get no respect at Honeywell like: 1) new hires have no pension plan. 2) 10% mandatory overtime. Managemnet calls it engineer efficeincy index. It only supports the company bottom line at the expense on the worker. Long ago we used to get OT pay. 3) For those that have a pension they (management) capped its growth rate with EOY 2015 salary cuttoff in the calculation. 4) Back in 2009/2010 they stopped subsidizing part of healthcare insurance for new retirees. 5) When they did RIF they push you out the door without going through the servance package details , but say we will mail them to you. 6) To hire back-in you have to apply for job like a joe-off-the-street, because they not do a list. 7) There is evidence that when jobs are posted HR is just churning the resume mill. It is probable that hiring managers regard laid-off engineers as damaged goods. 8) Management like Tim Mahoney get millions in stock bonuses.

Engineers week is a farse that management promotes the big lie that we are resepcted .

If you think Engineering is bad in an Engineering and manufacturing company - try being in another part of the organization like distribution or IT.

Workerbee it's true new hires get the short end of the stick. Within a month of working I got injured and needed to use my HSA. Since I was a new hire my HSA was empty and consequently ALL of my expenses were out of pocket.

In regards to pension and benefits. A lot of this changed because it was too expensive to provide employees with pension. In addition, the health care premiums were increased due to Obama Care. I spoke with long-term employee. In the time that the legislation was passed premiums increased 30%

It is true about damaged goods comment...no one will admit it for legal reasons. I have heard a manager slip and say flat out they will look elsewhere or just close the position, rather than rehire a RIF. Its because they don't want to bring someone in that was hurt by the company, and some managers just dumped new engineers rather than develop them. Less work for them that way. Sad, I know many good engineers that got walked out who worked hard and got things done but didn't know how to sell themselves or their accomplishments. I guess I should be happy I still work there, if it wasn't for the fact I now have triple the work while management walks around like their poor business decisions haven't ruined people's lives.

Hey WorkerBee, could not agree with you more.

Let's wait till they piss off one of those well knowledgeable engineer with lots of dirty secrets, government contracts, configuration management violations, swapping parts, pricing anomalies.... oh my my.... will be a whistleblowers' glory days....

Engineers Week - laughable. Tons of Chief Engineers who know nothing but checklists and scorecards....

So, start listing violations.... hit them hard where it hurts...
