Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Too afraid to do anything

Why keep complaining when none of you spineless employees are gonna do anything about it. Either leave and find another job or shut up and let kmart take over.

Since Follett seems determined to keep the lowest functioning people, I think my best bet may be to strive to do less. Maybe if I provide little value to the company, they will keep me too.

2 years ago it was 1 week for every WHOLE year worked at HO. I can't speak to stores (where the company actually makes money - what a novel thought) - thanks to senior management the field just seem to be cannon fodder. Remember we value each and every associate!

i think they offered a week for every 2 years, 2 years ago. It can get less generous, but...

Something to consider after this last bloodbath. The next RIF session may include a greatly diminished severance package. Been there, done that. When I was forced to downsize my department at a previous job, severance included 1 week for every year worked including the current year, vacation and sick time. By the time my time came to be RIF’ed (just prior to shutting the doors) I was shocked to find that severance topped at 6 weeks, vacation and no sick days by direction of the B of D. And don’t forget that depending on what type of insurance you have, Follett may pocket all the money you have sitting in your account. All who are left should accept that it’s now not if but when and understand the cuts are coming from the bottom up not the top down. How many Senior VP’s, VP’s and Directors do you really need to run a severely diminished work force? There is no future at Follett.

Haha. Wow what a dick! I think most of us are looking for new jobs, but can't leave this one until we do. It's called having to pay the bills, and we can complain in the process if we want to. :) Isn't that really what this site is for? It's definitely not for people who are satisfied with their shitty job and even shittier company.

You are forgetting, many of them CANNOT find anything. Otherwise people would have left long time ago.
