I agree with 3qne. And I will be putting more time into distributing my resume and applying for jobs outside Intel than I will working on my focal. When you can't trust the company you work for it's time to leave.

3qne, I work with Intel engineers on a daily basis. I now work for a Intel supplier and most engineers that I talk with have the same feeling as you wrote. If they can screw us over they will screw the rest of the employees when they get a chance. I don't trust Intel at all.

Could be originally Googled. The General Mills cereal instead of goodbye was certainly a flop. But who uses the word "Bullock" in the US? I've never heard that word used in conversation before. I think our RCG is an Indian national who is frustrated because he's stuck with an Intel H1-b he can't get out of and in a languishing company being disrupted. Who to take your frustrations out on but the older people who must have let it get this bad? Sad.

Normal people would leave Intel if they hold such a strong belief as you that "anyone old is deadwood". But you seem to stick around (illogically too - because ISPs no matter how large will never significantly reduce the average age of Intel) despite your strange beliefs. Why is that? Then again I may let Intel rot in the bureaucracy that rules it and cash out sometime in the future that suits me. After all me and my fellow employees are deadwood, right... (genius deadwood though! ;)
1wpl was going to invent the next big thing, but intel didn't allow him to proceed. Had his invention materialized, it would have changed the world - intel should be punished for preventing him from coming up with the great idea. We beg you to proceed with your great ideas Sir. If intel is not the right platform, please look out - there are tons of companies waiting for a genius like you.
1cvh, Intel didn't lay me off. But I do enjoy correcting your crazy mis-statements like the first reply on this string. Your weak attempt at trolling is pretty funny! Plus I like to watch this site - it's wise to do so given the mess Intel is in these days. Maybe one of these days I'll just stop working and take VSP for a big cash out! ;)
Can I ask a stupid question? Why is there a post about Broadcom layoffs on an Intel layoff site? And yes, it's a serious question. I'm trying to understand the coloration.
Oddly when I went to Broadcom on yahoo's finance page yesterday not one peep about layoffs was in their headline news page. Nothing today either. I found that very odd that there was no mention of it.
...and the reason there is less real work to do is #1-3 below. (And the mediocre are a strawman argument normal IRs and BEs always existed even when Intel was growing fast. This site is about layoffs.)
Very myopic view. No company has cut their way to prosperity. Cuts in employment are needed due to: 1) outright failure 2) technology change making your product obsolete 3) management hubris In Intel's case it's been a little of all of these... 1) Intel failed in small form factor 2)RISK competition is making Intel CISC obsolete 3) Intel leaders understand technical details of mfg but do not understand business (one indicator: 0 past successes in purchasing companies). Welcome to the results on failure, disruption, and poor management at Intel!
