Thread regarding Follett layoffs

I won the severance lottery

My time came and I sat there like a person waiting for the final number to come up on the year lottery I have been playing since June. No one ever wants to be laid off but it might as well happen now than another year of killing myself for this shithole when they can't afford any severance at all. My meeting went something like this: Blah Blah Blah Blah Big Severance Payout!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Blah Blah Blah Blah! I feel bad for the good people that are left as they are at the point where they can't take on any further duties.

Is truly is a sad mess DG and CW have turned FHEG into in such a short time. The board ran all these good people with so much knowledge out of the company over profits yet 2 of the last 3 years have been some of the worst in their history. I've heard from numerous people that there is a disaster sitting in Aurora with football fields of garbage product that has to be written off next year. Surprise! More layoffs are coming! Guess they thought they could keep it in the warehouse like Kmart and make it a Black Friday item. I'm just happy these fools didn't write it off the one good year they thought they had and I cashed all the way to the bank with a bonus last June that really shouldn't have been haha.

A friend told me yesterday that I finally got out of a long abusive relationship! Time to watch some HBO and drink some coffee.

Great post and good luck. You will land on your feet just like I did.4 years of decline and there is no hope for a turn around. Students have voted with their wallets and Follett was not the winner.

Sorry you got laid off but so happy for you getting out!

They announced the layoffs but haven't told us how many people were let go... the next message we got was to reduce payroll... what an awful place this has become!

Given the choice between going home with a severance check or going home without a severance, you got the better outcome.

Other colleagues weren't as fortunate. 2 years ago I knew people with years in with this septic pit of a company. They weren't given a severance. They were abused until they had to quit. Quitting cost them at least $30K.

Glad you got the check. Glad the economy is better than it was two years ago, too. I hope you land well.
