How about some ex associates standing along the road with protest signs? Sidewalks are public property.
I think it's time to not come in sick. It's cold a flu season. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone in a department, or a building is sick at the same time. Perhaps they'd be sick over 3 days, 1/3 each day. Perhaps that's what is being suggested?
What exactly is being advocated here? "Stand up" and do what?
It's not a fat severance check. Not much for 15 - 20 years of dedicated service. A grim future for some of the laid off associates over 50 years old. But don't worry the Folletts still got their dividend checks!
I'm all for it. The Follett voice survey was a crock. They didn't really listen to what we had to say. All they took from that was the responses to their questions, not our actual comments. Something needs to be done. I love my job, but not the company anymore.
The severance isn't a sure thing. Two years ago they simply assigned you jobs that were designed to make you fail. Your failure would be documented and criticized. You'd be put on a plan and fired. Most people understood that was happening and left on their own first. It was brutal watching people with 15-20 years into the company being ruthlessly driven out. They didn't get a penny!
You can't predict or control if they give you a severance. Act on what you can control. Show them they can't run this company without the front line workers!
I understand your point but why walk away when you can wait for a fat severance check? Each day going to that place sucked but I waited it out, saw the economy and wages get better, got a nice check to walk away and am here relaxing on a beautiful day. No stress. I'm going to enjoy my Follett vacation for a little while. Lots of options out there folks. My eyes went wide when I pulled up the job boards for the first time in years and saw the many opportunities that exists out there.
It is cold and flu season. I think it may be time to take a sick day. Perhaps 33% of the folks everyday for three days.
Take the severance check and walk away
