Why doesn't HR take volunteers for a severance package?! If they would bother to ask if people could/would take a severance, I KNOW FOR SURE there would be at least a few who would take it. Some people may want to go back to school, some go a different direction with their careers, some would just take it to save their colleagues for have families/work visas and they're good people, etc., but won't do it because it's not a option. If HR would just ask, I know people would take it.

Looking more like 8000 and "voluntold" furloughs for those left.

4000 is a bit light. Closer to 6000 needed after recent performance.

From NGC, Louisiana. I wish from my heart that Maintenance Manger Jim Robertson would be the first on the layoff list. 2nd all his little dogs from supervisors to team leads snitches.

I am tired of watching them over here.. Time for a huge wave to get them out completely or send them somewhere else.

The moniker should now be profit, profit and profit.

I am working here and still getting paid but who knows if I will be next and living with the uncertainty is very stressful for me and my family.

Schlumberger used to be about People, Technology and Profit, not always in that order but at least balanced.

Now the transformation to Process, Process and Process is nearly complete.

At least there have been unprecedented efficiency gains in staff reduction processes...

Plenty of cost savings to be had, redundant management by the thousands.

I'm guessing management wants to hold out for a Q3 miracle so Q1 will be light at 4k, then in Q2 they'll catch up to reality and have another 16k layoff. Schlumberger got to 120k people, stable times before were 80k, so if they undershoot as much as they overshoot well probably stop somewhere between 40k to 60k employees. We're in the 80ks now.

I work in finance and we are being pushed to reduce costs and the only option we have is more heads and 4000 is probably an underestimate....it's horrible right now

We are being pushed to show results from the so called transformation but it's a total failure and the only thing we can do is layoff people and pretend to higher management costs are coming down because of increased efficiency thanks to the transformation. We have a consultant breathing down our necks getting paid 2000 USD per day to make sure we deliver

If u think it's just going to be 4K for all of 2016, you aren't being realistic. Now if u said its going to be an additional 20k or more than that makes more sense. Expect for slb to lay off 25k plus on 2016.
