SLB has been demanding furlough and overtime from its employees since this downturn from last year, at least some segments like M-I SWACO (led by Guy A.) will enforce this furlough even more than last year. Although it claims to be voluntary, the implicit "forced" tone can easily be sensed. With those on-going massive layoffs, it looks like there is no better choice for the current employees to take furlough while being extremely overtime, especially for those working visa holders (we call ourself as 21-century SLB-Slaves). Be aware, it is illegal to abuse your employees like that. Call your representatives to raise the concern, at least, make it public to humiliate those blood-sucker managers and high rank SLB executives.

Two words - At Will. It is up to you to decide if you are willing to put up with it.
Some of us like the abuse though. If you don't like it then apply to hallucination because masochism is what you need to get ahead or even stay in place.
I don't get it. I should not accept redundancy?
If you think the company, or any segment within the company, is violating labor or wage & hour laws, just contact the dept. of labor in your state with details.
They won't do anything.. Take a video and put it on Facebook or YouTube that's the humiliation. NewsTV will pick it up faster than a representative.
