Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Florence Ky plant

Been in management most of my career. Was told a few years ago that Schlumberger had chosen the Florence Ky facility to be one of their "World Class Manufacturing Facilities". I was excited to see the transformation take place. We paid an obscene amount of money to have the floors polished and that's where it stopped. The place is dirty, unorganized, inefficient and poorly managed. Lots of potential there but it won't be utilized with the current management team. Very sad.

yep - use your experienced guys to get all their experience down on processes and procedures and then fire them because they cost too much and hope that the younger lower paid engineers are able to replace them and just follow those procedures. The problem is it doesnt always work and they end up destroying the value that those companies like MI once created for their clients and but by bit the company falls apart

At SLB every answer is in the manual. No thinking or creativity allowed by employees. The sooner you learn to become a robot, the safer you will be. Drink the blue kool-aid in order to support your family, then get out at the first chance.

It's not the same Sweco that we all remember .

Brenda Beers was a fantastic example of just how to be a president of that company.

Since she left that facility it's been a downhill slope .

They are pushing to standardize the whole place guys .

Once your areas daily activities and procedures are in place and every bit of knowledge is on paper then they will slowly remove those who are most experienced (and paid the most )

And replace your jobs with folks that are less expensive .

The writing is on the wall it's the beginning of the end for those that have been their a minute on the floor and in the offices .

Rest easy if you are a labor grade 7a or below .

If you are in the office and have less than 10 years in you will be safe .

This layoff is much bigger than you guys realize and it's a business restructuring in the Florence facility that is taking place .

The welders will be the only safe retention as their skill cannot just be replaced with other talents .

Welcome to Schlumberger. If we don't destroy your work morale we will certainly make you enjoy your job less. Thats how we manage things

There was a time when this facility housed a group of folks who were family. They worked hard to make sure the Company was successful. All were a hard working group and best friends were those within the work family. It was incredibly special and I for one will carry that in my heart forever. Times change, the family becomes the short-term stockholders and people on the inside mean nothing. To those who remember the "old times" be thankful you once worked at a company with a heart! It is indeed a rarity in 2015,
