Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel desperately needs more H1B visas

After the layoff that happened a few months ago, there are too many positions lying vacant. The best option for intel in this scenario is to have folks travel to the US on H1B. Such contract staff do not complain unnecessarily, are willing to work round the clock, don't sneak away from the office during work hours and above all, cost just a fraction of the old farts that were let go. All other companies are going the H1B route.. Intel should follow suit.

Wow, the guy badmouthing about Ajay Bhat appears to be desperate.. You being low skilled does not mean others too are your type. Indians will keep getting added to intel and you guys will just be talking about it secretly. If you have any serious concerns, take it up with your HR (speak the same way as you talk here) and collect your termination memo. Hey piece of shit, go get a life,.. You, your dad, your dad's dad or even his dad wont be able to touch H1B. Indians are here to stay and they are leading a decent life working in a decent way. Jealousy is a common thing in any corporate environment and your getting pissed off is nothing but jealousy. If you don't like working for intel among Indians, f--- off. Go get a job as a janitor or meat cutter.. You deserve that..

Ajay Bhatt had about as much to do with inventing USB as Al Gore had to do with inventing the Internet. I'd bet Ajay Bhatt would have a difficult time even spelling USB. He is total and utter Fraud, and Intel will need an exterminator to get rid of him, like any other cockroach.

All you arrogant Indian #$%#@ can take your sorry asses back to India. You are aiding and abetting the destruction of our economy, and as one poster points out, I'm sure you will have a wonderful impact on the impending implosion of Intel and at all of the other corporations who were foolish enough to think that they could pay less and get more.

The best should be the only criteria. Sure diversity of opinion and creativity matter but subjective criteria like that are not gender or race specific. The racial and gender quotas (or "targets" as they're called) are there at Intel, like every other big company because of the risk of lawsuit. Companies justify the quotas with nice-sounding lies about "diversity", as if skin color or gender matter. The best policy would be to hire the best candidates - period. This would be the most ethical thing to do and also would not violate any laws - though it would increase the risk of Intel being sued. My opinion is that history will look on the quota system as counter productive for multiple reasons.

I'm not saying Intel hires the best. (They say they do, but it's just one of many corporate lies). I'm saying they SHOULD hire the best. What they actually do (just like every other large company) is hire the best mix of people that will allow them to meet internal goals for women, and "under-represented minorities" (purple, pink skin, etc). This they do because they don't want to be sued by the Federal govn't on behalf of women or ___ color skin Americans.

If hiring the best is the only criteria, Intel would be full of Asian and white dudes.

I don't care if the people working are purple, have reproductive parts on the inside or outside, or are Sneetches with no stars on their bellies. HIRE THE BEST PEOPLE, PERIOD.

Very true. 30% of Apple employees are Indians.. 28% of google employees are Indians. So, intel definitely needs to catch up to stay relevant.

Ajay Bhatt - co-inventor of USB. Still works for intel.

Vinod Dham - One of the co-inventors of Intel’s first flash memory (ETOX). He is also known as Father of the Pentium chip (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinod_Dham).

If you need more info, check this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Indian_inventions_and_discoveries

Don't underestimate Indians buddy :)

OP RCG: Your posts are so self-similar: 0 data (ie how many positions, relative to what in the past?), conclusions without any reasoning (except "everyone else is doing it"), name-calling, etc. You're going to move up fast!!! The world is your oyster. Keep your data-free, reason-free, hating ways up - you're sure to go far!

As an employee that was let go in July I have to say this. I am so excited to see how well Intel is going to do now. All you young people are so amazingly brilliant that now the company can really excel. I can't wait for you all to make my stock go up and make me rich beyond my wildest dreams because now that the people who have no skills or brains are gone, the sky is the limit. The boundless innovation that can now proceed is going to be breathtaking and I'm here to watch it all in amazement. Carry on.

Intel seems to have a problem with creativity and innovation more than cost of labor. The correct solution to this issue is to add a menu item in the fancy free pop machines to allow the old fart fuddyduddy engineers to micro dose lsd.

http://www.rollingstone.com/culture/features/how-lsd-microdosing-became-the-hot-new-business-trip-20151120

But we need to keep it away from hr and senior managers. They are already living in an alternate reality and could be insane. Engineers only.
