Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Password locked, could not log into computer

I was unable to log into my computer today. I went to IT department and they told me my account was locked. Does that mean I will be laid off tomorrow?

Oh well, MAYBE if you are LUCKY you may get a job working for the "older employee".

Typically companies such as SLB hang on to the older / wiser / more experienced and proven.

I must have missed the lay-off in January news.

Hi @EPXeezS-fpc,

Schlumberger just purchased access to see who are making the post on this site. So we will be contacting you and your manager soon.

You are not supposed to write your passwords down!

Most times I can't log in is because I forgot my password. After several unsuccessful attempts it locks, but I always manage to get access again. Nothing to freak out about. I just keep my password written on a sticky note on my monitor now so that I will not have to try to remember it. Just do not let any one know what it is...

Yeah, if this happened to me I would have pooped my pants. Just because of the ill advised timing of it all. Other times I would have thought nothing of it.

Not really productive to worry about uncontrollable events you could have already done all you could to avoid.

Passwords...As I have witnessed over many year of this circus...Access is usually not cut-off until Lay off occurs.

I have seen several during similar times freak out when they cannot access something.

Pretty common now isn't that? One minute you are rolling along and then the lights go out. Later to re-illuminate.

I remember when we went to ProE being Web based for license acquirement.

OMG...The trouble we had with folks on the other side of the Globe who had gone home...Inactive but logged on so North America was limited on available licenses in AM.

We used to joke about who could arrive office earliest and be able to work! Most would just arrive later.

Bet your bottom dollar you are going to be let go. It is SLB way of giving you a days notice! Happy Holidays and best wishes in your job search.

That would be a good SQ to action HR. Do not lock people out until after laid of so the support team does not have to waste hours fixing their machines only for them to be locked out the door.

jajaja, funny story. No that is probably a error, but I did heard that there once was an older employee who could not access Creo2, so the Creo2 guy spent all day reloading his Creo2 and then in the afternoon he was let go (back in January 2015). So If you can not get into Creo2 or other programs then you should be concerned.
