Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Any other solutions besides layoffs? And how is laying people of a tax write off? Where are these "overhead" reductions going to be? Details?

The news never says any real details only that the sky is falling. I am waiting for some one to give real details! Times, numbers, etc. Good news?

If you notice, on quarter and year end results corporations report actual income and earnings per share along with income and earnings per share after non-recurring events, like restructuring (layoffs) and asset sales, etc. When SLB takes a $350 mil charge it is not a tax write off but rather a heads up to Wall Street that the next set of financial data will be impacted, but is not a part of "normal" business activity. The problem with that is when you have these "restructuring" events quarter after quarter is it really non-recurring??

The Bits plant in Houston has been having layoffs for a couple of weeks. Around 7 at the bits plant, including plant manager. A few in engineering, a bit more at the DTR plant. Supposed to have more next week.

Want good news - 15 minutes could save you 15% or more on your insurance............ Bad news is there might not be income to pay for it.
