Can't recruit top talent any longer due to mismanagement of layoffs by BC and JK. Those remaining now have lots of opportunities and will be bailing soon. There is no opportunity left at Target, BC believes everyone is expendable except him and JM.

@EAiJR7y-1rr8 - are they looking for #H1B candidates only?

Welcome to storeside. You're expendable.
The best part.... All these new hires will go through the same selection process HR has always used. Meaning no one with true talent will be selected, no one will be evaluated to ensure they actually have the skills, and 3 years from now BC and JK will still be talking about how "great" our continued transformation is.
ANYONE who doesn't think Target is very actively recruiting ALL TTS experience levels from outside take a look at jobs.target.com
The current plan is not to attract, hire or even keep talented and experienced individuals. The plan is to develop talent starting from scratch. If you don't believe me just look at how many TLP's and interns are coming in next year. The problem with this approach is that they seem to be putting all the eggs in this basket and completely ignoring any talent that may currently exist. Not that the existing management would even know what talent looks like....
TTS is full of wannabe techies. any real innovation is shot down or stolen and executed by self-serving losers. RC was brought up in this post already, yet again another example of a talking head with no real evidence of meaningful execution. the bad thing about MSP is that all the leadership is recycled waste between TGT, UHG, Best Buy, US Bank, Supervalu, etc. so when they fail at one of the big IT shops, they recycle those failed ideas elsewhere as if they were new, successful and innovative. MSP IT teams are stuck in a 3-5 year obsolete time trap. Replacing with out of state technical talent, though a great idea, is ultimately futile as the leadership is still full of bad ideas and only politically motivated. wake up MSP, you are not that innovative.
Tension will remain thick in TTS...more cuts are coming. Time to be adults and face the facts, time to either move on or put up and shut up!
Talent is talent. The best will follow the $$$. That is what's happening here folks. Open your eyes. Target is bringing them in left and right. Anyone who thinks that there aren't better skilled IT jocks out on the West Coast in Redmond or the Bay Area is sorely mistaken. It's harsh but true.
I don't see how TTS or TGT could say the local bench is weak. There are multiple problems to the TTS dilemma: majority of existing staff in TTS lack the skills to interview qualified people and weed out talkers. Interviews have never been very technical. Bench is weak because many of the talented MPLS folks have already done a tour of duty at TGT and left because well: they were not rewarded for hard work, got tired of the politics, did not want to status, did not want to work for RC, did not want to watch people promoted with lesser technical skills like PW. They can certainly bring in talent from outside, but good luck in keeping them as well. Eventually you will run that talent out as well with a lack of technical vision and leadership that fails to reward that technical expertise partly because they do not understand it nor appreciate it. That technical expertise is the exact thing that can make Target survive into the future with the likes of Walmart and Amazon.
I don't know.... I know that TTS is not delivering and I have new orientations all over my calendar.
@EAiJR7y-wus WHY ELIMINATE MORE?
I don't know about "one" or the "industry" but I do know that there are pretty frequent new team member intros of outside hires every week....RELO is working like crazy.
@EAiJR7y-pwV One would have to be insane to relocate for us. The industry knows we will be cutting more
Ok, so there you have it MN prospects, tgt says you are weak. Stay away...plenty of other companies to go to. Not that many people are willing to endure MN winters for very long...good luck tgt in long term. Short term strategy as always.
Oh hiring is happening like crazy. Not too concerned about the talent and unemployment in the twin cities, that bench is weak. Plenty of $$$ in the relocation budget. Going big with out of state prospects. Mic drop: JK
Listen up, BC likely thinks Tgt is still fa at HQ level, he is not looking to add staff....but eliminate more.
