Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Is Schlumberger really the "people" company they pretend to be? Can you believe the SLB executive guiding principles ? Could they do more?

Our people thrive on the challenge to excel in any environment and their dedication to safety and customer service worldwide is our greatest strength.

They need to get rid of the foreigns. Send them back to their original bases. Instead of laying off a US citizen that cost slb $50K to $80K a year including benefits. Send home that mng manager that has housing allowance + family plan tickets round trip+ Quarterly and yearly bonus + slb pays his kids to go to private school...etc to name a few.

Let's be honest with out selves for once.

I am a tech from NGC and I can't wait to put my two weeks notice. Many techs waiting to leave also. Only a matter of time. Alaska and Colorado are both with us.

Only a matter of time.

Fire your boss. Go to work for yourself. I did back in 2008 after having had enough of the corporate BS.

Best thing I ever did. Three times happier. No debts, no boss, no stress. Simplify your life.

Wrong again - Halliburton kicked your ass in revenue and earnings growth despite all the fancy bullshit transformation stories that only SLB people really believe. The ship is sinking fast and they blame it on the "market" - you have to laugh at that

It's about people, but not people on the bottom rung. And we aren't getting our asses kicked, we made the most money of any service company this quarter. Only the fat is getting cut and I'm sorry if that hurts your feelings but if you cost more than you make or your job can be done without you, you should be gone.

Wrong - business is all about people. Its people who make the profits, its people who execute the business strategies and its peoples loyalties that make companies truly great. Of course companies must make profits but an excessive disregard for the people side in difficult times will get paid back on lower profits and lost market share. Its already happening to Schlumberger as their business strategy is failing and we are left to compete on price alone like everybody else only we are excessively bureaucratic and top heavy hence we are getting our asses kicked in the market.

Business is not about people. Never was never will be. Deal with it. I thrive because SLB makes profits. Thankful that we do, corporations do not exist to create employment. if i get laid off, then i will look for a company that also makes profits.
