Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Why not look for another job?

Why not just look for another job instead of waiting for your turn? Its possible you will be laid off eventually or later on down the road, you've only survived that round of layoffs. What some people fail to realize is that if they don't leave now, their peers who were also laid off will be their competition for other jobs out there that they may better closely qualify for. Don't wait. Get out now while you can.

Bank of America is going to continue to keep slashing where they can. They cut multiple folks from the group I was in and each time they did it, they would tell us that they were done. They are not done..

Why the hell give them the satisfaction of quitting. Toe the line, document everything just in case, make them walk you out with some dignity in the form of a severance package. Of course, don't put it past these bastards to eventually say we aren't going to give severance packages, because these bastards will eventually come to that. Every person who walks through the door they consider an unwanted liability. Just listen to them (big call out to I-Dit-Ya and his cronies this week) boast about cutting X thousand head count for the last N quarters. Really should make you jack arses feel great about yourself when you measure your schlong by the number of people you spit out to the curb. Far be it for any of you yahooz to think about the destruction you are wielding on otherwise hardworking talented people who just were sacrificed so you dolts could brag at parties how you inched the stock up 1/8 of a point. Get a soul you band 2 and aboves. There's a special place for the likes of you in the afterlife.

Ill tell u why:overqualified, insurance in boa is the best around, other comoanis pay less since starting from the bottom, can be laid off there too, years of bank work thrown up for something its not guaranteed....do I need to keep on?it will make sence to leave boa only for a single person who is looking for a different career path, doesnt have kids and doest cate about insurance.

Also it's hard to just go out and find another job. You have to realize that it's countless number of people probably applying for the same "new" job just like anyone else. Then there's the waiting by the phone hoping that the interview went well and going through the stress of hoping you make a good impression. I'm waiting it out as well.

Apparently you don't have YEARS of employment with Bank of America or you would know that some employees are waiting for the layoff so they can get their due severance. Some can get up to a year or more. Why let them off by just quitting? I, myself, was laid off after many years of service with them and I am still collecting severance. It's been nice to be free of that place and all the fear that went into every day that my day was coming. I waited it out over a course of about 10 layoffs. So glad I did. Those with only a few months severance coming to them may want to consider taking another job if one becomes available but even then, the severance is a nice break from working. Plus, if you take the severance in bi-weekly payments, they can hold onto all the benefits for which they are entitled. So my advice is, unless you have a super job offer, don't jump ship. Stick it out if you can. Good luck to all the loyal ones.

It's hard to know when exactly to leave and where to go. You will be the "last one in and first one out" if you go to a new job that also starts laying off people. That has happened to several friends of mine.
