Although I am an engineer, this sounds like a whole bunch of engineers and geos on here trash talking the land department because they are the cool kids. I can't hangout with most engineers. Face it boys. Engineers and geos are for the most part nerds with no social skills. And the land group is the attractive face for third party relations who can also out drink and pull your wife. Accept it. You will always be the pimple face nerd who can't sit with the cool kids (landmen)
Why all the hate for the land dept.?
Landmen have land analysts who have land technicians who utilize GIS analysts to collectively do 1/4th of the work of the average employee. Stop giving them such a hard time. It's hard out there for a PLM.

Not a Landman but i know many.That sort of blatant arrogance and ignorance is exactly why they are needed. Every company of any significance has a Land department - deal with it or start your own and see just how good you really are. See if you cover your ass in a complex commercial setting. Sounds like you play "hardball" like a real man - yah, that's how deals don't get done...can't make any money without any deals "brah". Also nice pick for your negotiation team - we all know how stable those regions of the world are and have been for a long time as a direct result of their ability to make concessions that result in amicable deals with the rest of the world. Crickets, bitch.
156873 must be a "Landman". Yes, Land should be outsourced and can easily be done by any commercial real estate agent who is willing to legal answer shop and BS landowners with a straight face. Classifying Land as a "technical" field is a joke, especially given the customized contracting mess that continues to plague Eagle Ford. Give me 2 Venezuelans or Arabs and we will out-negotiate you every time! Cool license plates and sports coats though, brah.
