It has been proposed by a Corporate HR consultant to include the employee's PSG salary grade below their name on all Chevron ID Badges starting in 2016. The idea was taken from ID badges used in certain government and military branches. The rationale was explained in a long document which touched on things involving security and psychological factors. My impression is that Chevron is trying to develop a system of authoritative hierarchy that is more visible. Maybe it's only in following what other firms are doing.

Maybe instead of the employee's PSG level placed on the front of badge right below his/her name, it's best to stamp anywhere from 1 to 10 lip icons, meaning how many levels of asskissing it takes the individual to reach the CEO.

If you are in Operations, Construction or FE, your PSG is downgraded by a factor which puts you approx. 10 PSG's below everyone else in the company.

And the PSG 25s on up will eat first in the Gulf Café, and certain stalls by the Energy Center will be reserved for the higher PSGs, and for Illannes town halls the first few rows will be reserved for higher PSGs and for fire drills their will be a two minute delay for the lower PSGs to allow the higher PSGs to safely exit the building. Pwahahahaha.
44uqp, I suppose the badge would just have PSG16 written on the front of it somewhere. I don't know the salary range of a PSG16, but that's not the purpose of it appearing on the badge. The purpose for it is much like how it's used in the military or some US government offices - it's to denote "rank and order" or hierarchy in an organization. As for your question about your salary or hourly pay range, you can ask your supervisor or HR. It's not secret information.
So what could be the range of Salary grade 16 if you are working in Manila?

Behavior/attitude reflect leadership behaviors not a number on a badge. Don't put people in leadership positions that lack poise and capability and more importantly don't trust the direct supervisor when the team is faltering....interview the team. Foxs guard the hen house and employees are afraid to use the hotline.

There is a Chevron Way to Get F***ed in the Ass and it is alive and well. I asked a VP if this was being contemplated. He is a straight shooter. He laughed and said I have not heard of it but that it would not surprise him if it comes to fruition.

Anyone's PSG displayed on a badge or anywhere else doesn't tell anyone your salary, only a fairly large range of approximately what you make. Just like a previous poster said, most people in a BU would be about certain what your PSG is by your job title. So, don't dismiss the subject as "BS" or "Won't happen in Chevron". It makes sense to me this concept could be something the Chevron executives will implement. The military uses badges, stripes and stars to signify seniority or authority, so it's possible Chevron is contemplating using some kind of overt method to create a rank awareness that will compliment a new behavioral system. Either they are grasping at straws to restore respect for the chain of command or just trying something new that sociologists invented. Chevron is a California company. Why would it surprise you that Chevron won't think like many Californians.
PSG looks correct to me. They got my range exactly.

IF they put your PSG on your badge, then everyone would know your salary. Here are the Pay scales. PSG-19 $65K to $85K, PSG-20 $83K to $98K, PSG-21 $97K to $108K, PSG-22 $107K to $124K, PSG-23 120k to 140K and PSG-24 $139k to $155k.

I think this new badge thing is coming soon. Chevron will start tracking your every move... who you hang out with too often, how much time you spend in the cafeteria, the bathroom, the gym, or at your buddy's desk chatting. The technology in the chips are wireless and will track you anywhere in the building. I was told the badge points throughout the building will be many. It won't require a swipe of the card. It will sense your proximity and open the door. So even the bathrooms will require you have your badge with you. Chevron is out to spy on your every move.
Don't worry, the CPDEP project will to deploy new badges will take 3 years, the project staff will turn over in that time period and will recycle back to phase 2 after the microsensors are discovered to emit tiny amounts of radiation that could affect employee health.

It's a small Dept of Defense contractor for the Canadian military. Their technology is used in some places by Shell in Europe. I understand ExxonMobil is also using their technology, although mainly in an experimental capacity.

Entreprise de Sécurité Cartologue is the Canadian tech company, out of Montreal, Quebec that's behind the badge technology. They specialize in proximity micro sensors and geographical tracking devices.
What's more, My friend in Corp HR told me these new badges not only will have the PSG pay grade on them, but the badges themselves are new. The technology in the chips not only will track your whereabouts, but also be able to track with other badges were in the proximity and for how long. Looks like Chevron wants to know who is associating with who and for how long. Maybe to tell if you are in meetings, doing your work or just socializing.

I want r&as to be in the form of Girl Scout badges. And the lowest psgs can sew them on to our chevron sash. And then they can get a sewing badge.
I reckon we should wear stripes, stars, and epaullets to signify rank. Recognition awards could be actual medals.
Honestly, though, doesn't everyone know everyone's PSG, more or less? Job titles reflect this in most locations.
