It has been proposed by a Corporate HR consultant to include the employee's PSG salary grade below their name on all Chevron ID Badges starting in 2016. The idea was taken from ID badges used in certain government and military branches. The rationale was explained in a long document which touched on things involving security and psychological factors. My impression is that Chevron is trying to develop a system of authoritative hierarchy that is more visible. Maybe it's only in following what other firms are doing.

This is the worst idea.
Next thing you know we'll be saluting each other in the corridors.
BCG are not HR consultants. They are business process consultants. We use them because our business leaders don't have the balls to do what they need to.
How bout they just decouple pay and grade or at a minimum create a diff color badge and grading system for development programs and family members of mgt and execs. Keep overpaying those types and let the rest of us just get this train back on the tracks. I have to believe most of us want to come to work, get our jobs done in a professional manner and not be hindered by poor mgt and lack of leadership. Another idea is take all the Annointed ones and put them into a new bu, give them some assets and leave them to their own devices. The rest of us will get chevron back on track and we can write off the new bu in a year or so.
This would be a huge paradigm shift for chevroids across the globe. rates of contractors should be on the green badges as well. Accountability!!! Wow maybe we can make the pmp process effective as well.
Yeah, but that's the behavior they will call insubordination and you'll be reprimanded. Remember... Behavior modification.
Should be fun when I school a psg 26, I can the just slap my badge on the table and suggest we trade badges and payroll. Wait I have a medical condition that prevents me from asskissing; it's called testicles.
I wouldn't be surprised if this thing is adopted. It really doesn't bother me to have my PSG known to everyone. I've already mentioned my PSG to several friends.
You need to go the the ER. There is shit flowing from your mouth.
The PMP rating is not part of the new proposed badge. Only the PSG pay grade will be added. A friend at Corp HR confirmed the idea is on the table. Its purpose is targeted at behavior conformance. The message for the rollout is still being worked on. There's no certainty if the new badge will be adopted in 2016 or at all, but this behavior conformity thing is something Chevron is looking to address.
If the new SmartBadges are big enough for the employee's name, PSG and PMP rating, we could also add the family connections - "son / daughter of GM / HES Mgr / VP" etc.
You know the expression, "shit runs downhill"? After the new badges come out, the higher PSG types will start to dump on the lower PSG employee. Cliques will form based on pay class. Ass kissing will be taken to a higher level at Chevron (probably the real intent behind the idea).
Ha 'Not a BCG Fan', the employee's last PMP rating would really a great thing to add the badge, although changing the badges every year would be a high expense item. It's true though, some firms are starting to put the salary grade on their employee badges. They say it instills in the employee an ethic to work harder to earn a promotion, it also moldes employees to conform to the behavior expectations of their pay grade, etc.
Let's add on to this fabulous idea created by some high-paid HR consultant! In addition to the PSG, let's put the latest PMP rating on the SmartBadges.
You are so full of crap
