Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Mud school contract

if an employee attending mud school signed the 50k promise note to give the company back the 50K if they leave before three years due to furlough, or cut in pay scale does that employee still have to pay the 50K?

If you get laid off or forced on LOA then you wouldn't have to repay it. If you leave on your own merits for whatever reason then, yes you would have to pay it back. That being said they can withhold your pay and your PIP and put a ding on on your credit but other than than they really have a way to force you to pay it back. Of course you can forget about getting a good reference or working for SLB ever again.
