If I accept the severance package when I get laid off, would I still qualify for unemployment??

Yes, you can and I did. The severance is lump sum. It does not count, only monthly income counts. Also if you take your pension as a lump sum, it does snot count either.

Most of the time, you can receive unemployment for any week you are not receiving the severance. So, the week you get the big check, no. The week after, yes.

Do an Internet search for state of (your state) unemployment. It should be easy to find your specific answers.

What country? What state? What severance package? By definition a layoff qualifies for unemployment. Quite a bit of reading but the question you asked has been answered in so many different ways in the forum. Too many variables for a yes or no answer.
