Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

They seem to be using the latest round of Layoffs to fix their diversity problem.

Now that the "we can cut our way to growth" strategy has failed. Management has decided the easiest way to reduce the expense base while fixing their diversity and age and stage problem is to simply get rid of the 50ish white guys.

If you are in that group, please post.

Understand that most jobs are not being replaced. They are preparing a merger. JPM is in the works.

One very common denominator here is agism. BNYM culture is not and has never been employee friendly, but the treatment of older employees is setting a company up for a major legal issue.

I just got Linkedin email from my old boss - he is going to get the pick slip and he fits the bill - White Male >50ish - if you are... sweat you balls...

Have had that feeling all year. Our recent MD makes his bones but eliminating jobs or relocating them to lower cost centers. That is his entire career at BNYM. No concern over experience, quality service or loyalty to employees that have built the business line and reputation.

Sorry BNYM but it has been a downward spiral since Bacot left. The successor CEOs have been more concerned about their images, their pals and their pockets more than anything else.
