I worked part of the Surmont Project (after the monster supplement) and can assure you the $2-3B in overruns were almost completely a result of the decisions made by gents like 168875. I wouldn't hire most of these guys (most were men) to mow my lawn, let alone entrust with billions of $'s
The American definition of getting it done is one-and-done the same way every time. Canadian wives, like most non-American women, prefer Euros or even Asians who go for more than just one round there Bubba!
Canadians are very thankful to COP, which paid 10 billion dollars for a Surmont 2 that is worth 5 billion. A large part of this went to skilled Canadian workers. The bill is paid by COP shareholders. A Canadian company gets the same sized project done at 4 billion (e.g., Cenovus, CNRL, etc).
Take it to the activated path you too. My bet is on Hogan. Hacksaw Duggan has no chance.

If Americans were really "getting it done", then both the Oilsands and APLNG projects would already be completed for the budgeted cost! Don't fool yourself about your worth or value...or that of your dying politically correct country! Hey, you are the one who started it by your expat comments. Do you really think I care whether the world doesn't like us? Who really cares? We get it done and we are the first called when catastrophes happen and countries need our support. I am sorry if we are one of the big players on the global scale and including your employment. Regardless what you think COP is a U.S. based company not a Calgary based company. Thank God it's not or we would have already been bankrupt. Like I said, as you are being walked out next week on your way to the unemployment line thank your expats who have carried you so that you could at least be a part of a global E&P company who tolerated your incompetence at the price of $100/bbl oil. We may be arrogant, but not incompetent. It has always been said it takes 1 American to do what it takes a 20 man team in Canada to do. By the time you assign learning teams, assurance teams, etc. you have reduced your place in the market share. The reason you have done this to yourselves is because of the lack of competence.
