It's embarrassing to me as a CVX employee how many of these posts are full of horrible spelling and grammar. There have been some really thoughtful posts, but most make the author look like a real idiot. Learn to communicate like a professional and you might get to keep your job.

But, since anonymous posting is encouraged, we don’t know if those ten responses came from fewer than ten individuals. Coulda been (and probably was) one guy doin’ several. He’s kinda funny, doncha think, in a frat house sort of way?
But...all that aside...I think we gotta admit...you & I, that Chevron is NOT a high brow Company. When I started in the early 1980’s, I FELT that there WAS some esprit de corps...some pride, some commitment to a standard...but either it vanished (replaced by Tenets, Commitments To Always and The Chevron Way) or was never there in the first place.

Dear Anonymous136903 - I agree that the spelling and grammar on this board could be improved, but those skills, desirable as they may be, were of no consequence in layoff decisions. Mis-management and payback seemed to be the leading causes.

It is my suspicion that many of the misspellings arise due to time constraints and lack of proofreading (or too much alcohol). This is bound to occur in a stream of consciousness communication forum where emotions weigh heavy. Also, english is not the first language of many of those posting. After all, Chevron is a diverse multinational company and sensitvity to this diversity is central to the Chevron Way. A decided focus and orientation toward the overarching importance of proper english, syntax, grammar and spelling may reflect, Anonymous 136910, a behavioral compulsion. Compulsive behavior is a form of neuroses rooted in the desire for security and control in an insecure and uncontrollable world. Perhaps your compulsion makes you feel more secure during these difficult times? Did I misspell anything? Do you feel better now?
