Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Shell is screwed up but Chevron truly takes the cake

I left Chevron 2 years ago because of piss poor leadership. I just found this board. We are also having massive cuts. I have to laugh at my Shell guys. They think favoritism ranks high here. Shell is not even close to the debacle they call Chevron. I tell everyone I was sent here by God to tell them NO IT'S NOT AS BAD AS IT GETS, CHEVRON IS!!!!!!!!!! Shell is screwed up but Chevron truly takes the cake. At Chevron your D&C managers do not know D&C? And OE??? We never got rid of the first OE system then rolled in a new one. I can bet my bottom dollar I can go through any element and stump any Chevron SME on that broke ass shit. I won't name names but only a D7C manager at Chevron could not tell the difference from a wireline to a fishline. Truly they did not understand the basics. The talk over here is hot and heavy on Gorgon and Wheatstone and Bigfoot. The consensus is if oil prices stay low Chevron will have to restructure to not go into bankruptcy. How did the leadership make a 100 Billion dollar bet? That's a lot of coin to put on the table! And they lost the bet big time....snake eyes. Shell is in deep shit in Alaska. They are divesting all of Nigeria and cutting the North Sea. But we still will have cash. Good luck my brethren and yes Chevron is that screwed up. Your not imagining it! As bad as it is here I can only imagine what you are dealing with. We have layoffs at Shell not ROM',s RAE's Project blah....WTF with the names?

Disagree. I came from Shell a few years ago and joined Chevron. Shell was the absolute worst place I've ever worked, very depressing there.

Sounds like both previous posters left Chevron WHEN time were good. Both are also aware of layoff risk at Shell. Your comment makes no sense...

You all loved Chevron when times were good, now that times changed all of you are bitching about Chevron. It's not cool

Also left Chevron for Shell a year ago. Definitely seeing more of a money saving attitude here. Layoffs will hit all, but somehow feel safer here rather than living on cloud 9 (until recently) at Chevron.
