Indianapolis - Anthem Cigna Merger Layoffs 2015

Do you anticipate that we will have any layoffs in Indianapolis due to the merger with Cigna. Many rumors are flying around and I wanted to see what folks on this board thought. Maybe not in 2015 as it will likely take very long time for things to settle from the legal and business operations perspective, but a large wave of cuts might happen in 2016, that's at least my opinion (there will be redundancies and overlaps in HR, finance, IT, etc.)

I agree that there will be massive layoffs. I'm thinking that's why the sudden PTO policy change.

More Anthem layoffs announced internally yesterday. They're keeping this quiet, on the down-low.

We have to remember that this isn't necessarily a merger, we BOUGHT Cigna. With that being said, Anthem has the upper hand. Cigna employees are the ones who should fear layoffs more than us. Also, with this deal with Cigna, we will have millions more members which means we will need more employees to service these members. If anything, we will be cross-trained on what worked best with Cigna's operations. That's my optimistic way of looking at it.
