Anonymous122375 You live I a dream world. Always assume Target is going to screw you as an employee. To the original poster track everything, keep all communications, emails, record phone calls, speak with an employment attororny so you know your rights and final take care of yourself and get better. If Target does scew you don't dwell in the past there are many companies that are better to work for then Target. Life begins the day you leave Target!

If they will eliminate your position, you can still be let go. They did that in March for a few who were on leave, and a lawyer said to one the way it was worded it would be hard to challenge. If they don't eliminate your position you are safe for so long in your current role, if an extended absence they will give you a comparable role in your paygrade somewhere in the company. If you are on leave just make sure you go through Hewitt and have good documention from your doctor. Don't trust any person who says don't worry, just get better and you job will be here for you. Take it easy and get well soon.

I am terribly sorry to hear you're experiencing such severe/chronic health issues. IANAL but if you've been admitted to a hospital or otherwise placed under doctor's orders to not work there is not much Target can/would do about your employment status without running foul of lots of employee law. That said, your track record as a team member may influence a good number of things with regard to how others on your team rally around you. If you respond to others like 122019, 122020, 122053, or 122311, you may discover the truth about karma. From a work perspective keep your manager in the loop, track your documentation (from doctor's orders, to emails, to _____), and don't assume Target is going to screw you. From a more important perspective, focus on recovery and getting better, and ignore the paranoid trolls that lurk on this site.

Actually, back in "the day" there was no vacation, no lunch and you worked 7 days a week. If you didn't for whatever reason your family starved. The people from back in the day would hardly think our "day" is a tough one.

Back in the day they would treat you well allow you time to recover, make sure you were taken care of, still get paid and they would tell you not to worry about work until you are ready to come back. Fast forward to today: Please die so we can cut you from payroll, eliminate your position, hire lawyers so we don't have to pay any health or life insurance claims and tell all your co-workers to forget about because you were just dead weight anyway.
