just curious which field hand job had least lay offs in downturns: completions, D&M, fracking, coil tubing etc within oilfield service companies?

All fields, and even office workers, they don't give a damn.
Not manufacturing, these people are really expendable.

CT 25%
Pumping 35%
Cementing 20%
Fluids 21%
Wireline 15%
Testing 17%
This is just my own guesstimate based on my gut feeling and could be wrong,
