Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

What are the chances of rehire within a couple months? What would the numbers have to look like? Maybe I shouldn't hold my breath...

if you ace all this question the chance of rehire for you is 10%. Are you under 27?? do you stay with slb for at least 4 years?? do you know anybody from the inside??? do you have master degree. And the last but important is do you willing to degrade?? and demotion??. If you say yes to all of the above you will have that 10% to be rehired. Why?? because i know there are too many candidate have all of those qualification after the crude oil crash and they are sending their resume for food now. Just move on , make less but happier.

Going back to Schlumberger is like going back to that haggled girlfriend you had back in high school. In the next 2-3 years SLB will put on lots of weight and start to look pretty ragged. Just move on and in a few years time you'll be glad that chapter in your life is done. No point in losing any sleep at night over that nasty creature.

There are so many better places to work than Schlumberger. Why would you want to go back? Getting the boot from SLB was tough at first, but before long a better and less soul-crushing job will come along and you'll look back and wonder why you even put up with them in the first place.

I agree on the "12 to 24 months" and maybe even a bit more.

Not good. Probably depends if you are in OFS or EMS. On the EMS side, It could be 12-24 months before there is an upswing that results in any significant hiring growth. Even then, SLB will probably hire some cheap kids that just graduated. Why hire experience when you can get two inexperienced for the same price? If SLB still can't grow fast enough by suckering university kids into joining the "big blue family" then they will come back to you. So maybe 24-36 months... can you wait that long? If you are OFS the chances of being rehired once the market ticks back up are probably better than EMS, but I don't know much about OFS to give you my opinion.
