Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Don't you want to be one of those let go?

Honestly, don't you want to be one of those let go? Take the severance, go on vacation, come back refreshed and then get the job you really want. You will probably get a raise as Target doesn't pay what the market does (in TTS anyway) Do you really want to be one of those left behind and take on the job of those that got out? More hours and work than you have now?

Cut the excess fat of the contractors. Overpaid, underworked for the value.

Well sure, cut some of the women but the men have families to support. The women can always revert back to being housewives.

Thats comparing contractor to employee. Target is my 4th direct hire job - Target is very competitive w initial offers. Maybe not with post hire raises though. You will need to go other large companies to match, or get higher relative positions in smaller companies. Or go the contractor path, better rates with more unknowns.

Nope, I was a contractor at Target and know for a fact that I made more than the employees by at least by 50%

.....doesn't pay what the market does (in TTS anyway)..???? REally?

I work in IT at Target and get paid fairly. I have also worked in 3 other large companies in the Twin Cities. My guess is you've ONLY worked at Target your whole IT career?

They aren't going to bother letting those that make less than say $120k a year. You would be a drop in the bucket, they are going to let the ones that make more than that go, right? Those people, even with families aren't going to struggle much.

It's easy if you are solo, once you are a provider, it becomes much more complicated. Kids are expensive.

I am a 1 income household with child. I cannot afford to just take a small severance and go on vacation. Sadly this is going to hit many families hard.
