No one knows where it'll happen, when it'll happen, who'll be hit, and everyone left will have survivor's guilt. It'll be a bloodbath.

I think it's fairly spot on. Been through a massive layoff before at another huge corporate and it was nasty, seemingly random, leaving people wondering and confused. At least with this time, we're getting a lot of forewarning. Usually you don't at all - it's completely out of the blue.
I find this comparison utterly disturbing. Sure, getting laid off sucks, but life will most assuredly go on. Some will even prosper from the change. Yeesh.
Careful where you're going with that. You're inviting trouble....
