Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Future hires

Does anyone think Target will rescind offers for TSS/Merch BA classes starting in the next few months? I'm supposed to start July 6th but I'm not sure if that's going to happen now. Also, is it less likely TSS BAs will have offers rescinded?

Recruiters will be as upfront as they can. Everything is scripted and they receive speaking points prior to announcements. In January close to 70 BAIT offers rescinded. Largely the class was made up of December 2014 grads from fall campus hiring, additionally much of the class included folks with 1-3 years of various industry related experience from all parts do the country who received relocation packages. A few 2014 intern conversion TMS who were slated to start in Jan were secured and had their start dates pushed to June of 2015 as a way Limiting the noise and to maintain the relationship and brand experience. It's was a HUGE surprise everyone recruiters included. Recruiters are being instructed to if asked, to communicate that "at this time no future classes are bed impacted" So, what they are really saying "we do t know shit...aka probably best you find another job" hopes this helps.

If we reach out to our recruiters about this, will they be upfront?

Yep. Unless you are coming in as a data analyst or an engineer, I would be worry about your July start date.

It would be difficult to find another job with comparable salary etc. this late in the game, so I would like to work at Target. At least until I've something better, which would hopefully be soon

Thank you guys for giving your perspectives. I hope if they do rescind offers its soon otherwise everyone that's supposed to start will miss out on the last of spring recruiting events. Best of luck to everyone!

As much as it sucks, I would consider looking for some other options. As others said, the January class got offers rescinded. They aren't going to want to bring new people in most likely, unless you're doing something specialized in an in-demand field. (Engineering, etc).

Then you know that they didn't give them much of a heads up when they rescinded their offers. What may work in your favor is that the cut that will happen in the next several weeks put too much stress on those who remained. They will decide to add cheaper grads to augment a skeleton staff. Best of luck to you!

If they're going to rescind, I'd rather have it happen sooner than later so I can go forward with my contingency plan. Allegedly, the January class got their offers rescinded very shortly before they were supposed to start, hopefully that doesn't happen here.

OP here, I heard about the class from Januray having their offers rescinded and heard the same about a class that was supposed to start in March, though I haven't been able to confirm that.

Anonymous75912, are you in TSS by any chance?

I hope not. We had an intern this summer who was way better than any 1st year here. Hopefully it is a skill based decision.

Didn't Target cancel a class of BAs recently? Anything can happen. Anyone who has more than one offer probably need to keep all lines open just in case.
