Curious why Target isn't asking for volunteers for lay-offs? Thoughts? Anyone know of anyone who has approached HR to volunteer to be part of the lay-offs?

I wish I could volunteer! I would hate to see someone who really wants the job get cut and I remain. I'm already planning to quite hence getting a package and unemployement would be like winning a lottery. 😎. Target should reach out for volunteers to save face. They have handled this whole situation poorly.
GREAT question. Tells me they're doing broad cuts of entire departments or pay grades, so there's no room for a volunteer program.
I have not heard of any early retirement options, has anyone else?
Also, due to the fact it is restructuring how we do things, Target needs control of who is let go vs. purely trying to hit 2000 layoffs.
Plus volunteers require an incentive or higher severance usually. That strategy helps moral but the leaders dont really care about moral at the moment.
No data to support this but I assume only good talents will volunteer? Those who can find another job and thus, volunteer are often those who have skills? I have not seen it in my short career where a poor performer chooses to leave.
