That doesn't happen - if they need to work 24 hours they put a guy on nightshirt. There is no oil company on the planet who over works there people due to safety reasons so stop crying and accept you get too much time off
Mud engineers work that hard because they have no other options.
it is not safe to work 24 hours per day and I don't believe SLB would allow that as it goes against the safety culture.
I guess you would agree with SLB if you were a year away from retirement and they took it. Things come up on the days you are not off. Vacations are part of our benefits I hope they screw you over really good MF.
people that have never worked in the field as a mud engineer don't get it...mud engineer's who work 7on/7off or 14on/14off work 24 hours a day for those days that they're at the rig..
all those hours worked and NO OVERTIME....so don't say "sounds fair"...several hitch's i've worked where I'm up and on the pits/transferring mud/mixing LCM pills/unloading mud and went 3-4 days w/o rest or sleep...
out of the 3 years I worked with MI, I only got to use vacation once, every other time they were so understaffed that there wasn't anyone available to cover my hitch in order for me to use it so I had to give it up anyway...
Hey they get every second week off and thats about 26 weeks holiday a year so why should they get extra vacation on top of that?

They will have to pay the employees who have'nt taken vacation or let them take vacation! You should look into this, sounds like someone dropped the ball!
