For all of you that still believe that PDD is safe, please be realistic

When you look at it from a Buyer perspective, there isn't a ton of difference in the actual process of figuring out what assortment is best to carry, but there are a lot of variances in how to manage your area. What to promote, how to display, how to package, best pricing methods, vendor management, BA guidance, forecasting, VI negotiations, market trend analysis, etc. The list goes on and on very quickly, and very different based on department/area/vendor. Your question/statement seems very naive and foolish. I've seen it copied and pasted a few times on this site, and each time it makes me laugh at your "lack of knowledge" statement.

Merch should have been the first to downsize ! Educate me on the difference between buying underwear, socks, pantyhose, and ... clock radios? Negotiate the cheapest cost, set a margin.. if you can't sell it, you're out !! Do you actually need 20 people to predict demand on fruit of the loom tightie-whities?
Whoever 72995 is either doesn't work for target or pays zero attention. Combining .com and Store this year will leave a glut of everything from ba's through sr. Buyers. if merch doesn't get crushed leadership has no idea what is going on.

I wouldn't bet on that. Everything I have heard is that match is getting hit the hardest!
But all areas will get hit.

I don't think anyone is safe. By that logic with "style" and differentiation being a growth strategy and golden ticket one would assume PDD would be fairly safe too but I don't think anyone can assume anything.
I don't see them going after Merch- all the roles are very important. With the MS, MPS, BA, MP Manager, Buyer, Owned brand partners, etc. I cant see it being effective if these roles are cut
