Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Mr. Target CEO your new plan will not work.... why?

Stop and think what Target is all about? When you start losing sight on your core business you lose big time. Part of your new vision is the grocery business. Who goes to Target to primarily to buy groceries? Will the prices be cheaper, more convenient, will you offer something different compared to your regular grocery store? The answer is everything is NO.

The grocery business is small margin high competitive industry. You are going to take up large footprints in your store to add food and take away space from your core business. Crash and burn. The new road map you are taking is going to cost millions to execute and it will not produce the revenue you are looking for Mr. CEO.

The new food strategy will not cut down square footage from other categories. The goal is to answer guests needs of having access to local products with a fresh focus which if they get it right will increase trips to replenish. It's all about changing the assortment. Guests are all about convenience today and if they can get high quality products at one place they will do it. It's a great growth opportunity but will take a solid strategy to pull it off successfully. I have high hopes!

I actually think Brian Cornell agrees you, and said yesterday he didn't like using the term "groceries" for our "food" offerings. Where I think he is missing the mark is thinking that the millennial male is going to be our next breadwinner.

Yes changes within an organization is good or you will die. However, you cannot change your model and say let's follow the Walmart blue print.

We have to change to survive. It's that simple. Adopt or die.
